There has been much talk about the Interim Adult Application Guidelines that came into place January 1st 2001. At the last Annual General Meeting a motion was put forward to change these guidelines. To some this motion was ambiguous in its intent. In an attempt to clarify the motion advice was sought from the club solicitor. As a consequence Rule 20 of the Constitution was invoked.
The national committee then called a meeting for July 5th 2003 to allow time for further discussion of this motion. After discussion with the mover of the initial motion it was reworded into a more workable document. This new document was then ratified.
Here then is a précis of the Adult Application Guidelines:
The JRTC of A has had in place for many, many years an Adult Application system for non litter recorded Jack Russell Terriers i.e. not registered with the JRTC of Australia Inc. The application cannot be processed until the animal has attained at least 10 months of age. Since Jan 1st 2001 there were three outcomes for any application.
1. Accepted as restricted can advance to full registration subject to a progeny test with a proven mate registered with the club (the progeny to be assessed after they have attained 10mths of age and passed a vet check).
2. Permanently restricted. (These animals to be desexed)
3. Refused outright. (Never to be registered)
As of the committee meeting held on July 5th 2003 (this is not retrospective) the process has four outcomes, the additional one being Full Registration if simple specific requirements are met. i.e.
1. Can produce a three-generation pedigree on both sides (issued by a properly constituted association).
2. Animals that this club or its committee consider not too closely bred.
3. Animals that conform to the JRTC of Australia Inc. Breed Standard.
4. Animals that have passed a 10-month Vet Check (this is a simple Vet check and replaces the check that was formerly done, prior to January 1st 2001, by a Club Representative)
APART FROM THE VETERINARY CHECK THIS IS NOW VIRTUALLY THE SAME SYSTEM THAT WAS IN PLACE PRIOR TO JANUARY 1st 2003.
As with other organisations, when prospective members apply to join our club, we also have rules that these new members agree to abide by. One of them is that if you breed from stock registered with us you must register with this club, every litter from that stock in its entirety.
